Dräger Launches New ICU Ventilators and Anesthesia System at Arab Health 2020

Drägerwerk AG (Lübeck, Germany) launched several new products at the Arab Health 2020 (January 27 – 30, 2020) held in Dubai, UAE, including ICU ventilators and anesthesia workstation.

Dräger offers anesthesia workstations, medical ventilation, patient monitoring as well as neonatal care for premature babies and newborns. At Arab Health 2020, Dräger launched the new Evita V600 and V800 ventilators designed to support daily clinical tasks in the ICU.


Both ventilators combine high performance ventilation with an aesthetic design, enabling quick and efficient operation from the first onset of lung protective ventilation until the integration of a patient care-centered intensive care workplace. They are quick and safe to operate even in the most stressful situations due to intuitive menu access to both settings and your clinical data. All patient data, alarms and trends are fully recorded, conveniently exported via USB interface. Users can switch between multiple view configurations with the touch of a finger while step-by-step guidance leads the user through every procedure. The 360 degree alarm light flashes in the color of the corresponding alarm priority and is visible from every direction. The new Evita ventilators in combination with Dräger’s lung function monitor PulmoVista 500 allow users to visualize the adverse effects of mechanical ventilation.

At Arab Health 2020, Dräger also launched its new Altan family of anesthesia workstations that are designed around simplifying working procedures for both clinical staff and biomeds so that they can meet every challenge. Atlan is the “can do all” anaesthesia workstation for all patients, procedures and spatial conditions. The workstation set-up can be tailored to specific needs and upgraded later, if features cannot be afforded upon initial purchase. This results in the ability to have the same anesthesia workstation with a unified user interface in all rooms, thus reducing the need to continuously re-train staff (learn-one-know-all) and the efforts for biomeds to manage the fleet.

Atlan offers a wide range of functionalities to help make the anesthesia process safer for patients and clinical staff. First, customizable screen layouts in combination with Dräger monitoring provide a quick to grasp overview of the patient status as needed. Additionally, decision-support tools assist in making informed and safe decisions. RFID safety features help avoid the incorrect connection of breathing hoses with the anesthesia device leading to the inability to ventilate the patient. They also provide reminders for exchanging expiring accessories in time. Smart safety backups, such as the backup manual mode provide fallback safety in critical situations ensuring full control over the system at any time.

Atlan offers numerous features to support the anesthesiologist to protect the patient’s lungs during surgery. Among others, ICU-like ventilation performance comes as a standard, including precise tidal volume delivery (even independent from fresh-gas flow), active PEEP and high trigger sensitivity for spontaneous breathing. Atlan also supports the safe and efficient application of low- and minimal-flow anesthesia by using its Econometer to make the user aware of fresh-gas flow deficits and surpluses. Moreover, it provides a very leak-tight breathing system as well as a sample-gas recirculation function. Last but not least, Atlan comes with a heated breathing system to reduce condensation.
