Two companies that have operated as a business alliance in recent years are being brought together under the joint name of Schaerer Mayfield Holding AG. The two companies are Ohio Medical Instrument Company, Inc. (Cincinnati, USA) and Schaerer Mayfield Schweiz AG (formerly Schaerer Medical). Terms were not disclosed.Posted on 12 Sep 2003
Schaerer Mayfield Schweiz was founded in Bern, Switzerland, in 1892, and its core businesses include the manufacturing and worldwide marketing of the Schaerer surgical tables and sterilizer product lines. In 1968, Schaerer Mayfield USA, formerly OMI, was founded by Dr. Frank Mayfield, an internationally known neurosurgeon. The company is widely known for its Mayfield line of cranial stabilization products.
The merger will join the Schaerer and Mayfield brands and capitalize on the long history of Schaerer and on the Mayfield brand preference in the nuerologic market. "It shows the broader line of synergistic operating room products available to our collective customers all over the globe,” noted company directors.
