Contracts to distribute the cassette-based digital x-ray systems of Fujifilm Medical Systems (Tokyo, Japan) and the computed radiography (CR) systems of Konica Medical Imaging, Inc., a subsidiary of Konica Corp. (also in Tokyo, Japan) have been announced by Swissray International, a subsidiary of Swissray Medical AG (Hochdorf, Switzerland). Contract terms were not disclosed.

Swissray is the developer of direct digital radiography (ddR) technology that is designed to provide medical radiographic images in seconds and at lower cost than conventional radiography because film cassettes and chemical processing are not required. The company has installed its systems in many countries around the world. This new agreement gives Swissray's expanded US sales force additional digital radiography options to sell, including Konica's new Xpress CR.

"Moving forward, Swissray plans to capitalize on its specialized radiography expertise and experience by extending its ddR market leadership to include an expanded line of modern radiography products and related services,” said Terry Ross, CEO of Swissray International.
