A new collaboration will provide a wide-ranging RIS (radiology information system)/ PACS that integrates speech recognition technology. The system will be based on the RIS system of the Radin Group (Furth, Germany) and the speech-recognition system SpeechMagic of Philips Speech Processing, a unit of Royal Philips Electronics (Amsterdam, The Netherlands). RADIN is a medical web-based image processing system.

By incorporating web-based image management with speech recognition-based report creation, medical diagnoses can be made more rapidly, thus allowing patients to be treated faster and, consequently, with significantly reduced costs. Both companies have had collaborations in the past, already having implemented successful projects with joint partners in France, Germany, and Austria.

Marcel Wassink, managing director of PSP-SRS, remarked, "In response to cost pressure in the healthcare sector, modern hospitals are relying more on innovative technologies. The partnership with Radin sees the integration of two technologies unparalleled in boosting productivity, namely web-based image processing and speech recognition-based report creation.”
