Under a four-year agreement, Iris International, Inc. (Chatsworth, CA, USA), has agreed for Arkray, Inc. (Kyoto, Japan), to distribute its new iQ200 automated urine microscopy analyzer in Japan. Arkray is a Japanese manufacturer and supplier of medical devices.Posted on 21 May 2004
Under the terms of the agreement, Arkray will be the exclusive distributor in Japan for the importation, marketing, sales, servicing, and support of the iQ200 instrument and consumables product line. The iQ will be marketed under Arkray's Aution family of products. When the iQ200 analyzer is working in tandem with the Arkray Aution Max AX-4280 automated urine chemistry analyzer through software developed by Iris, the result is the iQ200 System, the only fully integrated platform in the world performing complete urinalysis, both chemistry and microscopy, notes Iris.
In a similar arrangement, Iris announced in March 2004 that the company had renewed an exclusive four-year agreement with Arkray Global Business, Inc., a subsidiary company, to market its AX-4280 automated urine chemistry analyzer in the United States. Iris is also the nonexclusive distributor of the Arkray Aution JET AJ-4270, a semi-automated urine chemistry analyzer and related products targeting hospital emergency rooms and satellite laboratories.
"With the introduction of our new iQ200 product platform in both the United States and Japanese markets, the relationship between Iris and Arkray truly has come full circle,” said Cesar Garcia, president and CEO of Iris.
