Dade Behring to Buy Ranbaxy Assets

In a move to increase the company's presence in India, Dade Behring Holdings, Inc. (Deerfield, IL, USA), has agreed to acquire certain medical diagnostic assets from Ranbaxy Laboratories (Gurgaon, India). No financial details were disclosed.

Ranbaxy is India's largest pharmaceutical company, manufacturing and marketing brand and generic pharmaceuticals and active pharmaceutical ingredients. The company's medical diagnostics division serves a broad range of customers in India, including large hospitals, laboratories, and blood banks. The division offers a diverse portfolio of medical diagnostic products, along with a highly skilled technical team that supports the products. Ranbaxy research has developed proprietary platform technologies

Under the company's current partnership with Dade Behring, Ranbaxy purchases products and services from Dade Behring. Because of the success of this relationship, Dade Behring has decided to acquire the same business that has been distributing Dade Behring products.

"India has a growing population, and awareness of the need for health care is increasing rapidly in both urban and rural areas.
