Prominent healthcare professionals from around the world will gather in Dubai during January 2011 to debate the latest issues, discuss business strategies, and address the challenges in today's regional and global healthcare industry.

The global economic downturn that started in 2008 has put the spotlight on cost effective business models and investment strategies, fields that will be the highlight event at Leaders in Healthcare – the flagship event of Arab Health 2011 (Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates), scheduled to take place between January 24-27, 2011. The focus of the event is to be on the development of business models for the sustainable delivery of future healthcare, paying particular attention to cost savings, cost-effectiveness, and strategies to raise investment capital.

Among the speakers at the event will be some of the industry's foremost thinkers, pioneers and business leaders, such as Raj Raja Rayan, former adviser to U.K. Secretary of Health; Nipit Piravej, M.D., CEO of the World Medical Center Group (Bangkok, Thailand); Dr. Michael Heuer, president EMEA and Latin America for Roche Diagnostics (Basel, Switzerland); Delos Cosgrove, CEO and President of the Cleveland Clinic (OH, USA); and Philipa Robinson, former implementation director at the U.K. Department of Health.

"Although we have a varied conference program, there is a common thread linking all of these presentations,” said Simon Page, Group Director of Life Sciences at IIR Middle East (Dubai, UAE), part of the Informa Group, and organizers of Arab Health 2011. "Due to the global economic slowdown, it is essential that healthcare professionals cultivate strategies to economize where prudent and to capitalize on investment opportunities and developing sustainable business models.”

Leaders in Healthcare is one of the highlights of the four-day Arab Health Exhibition and Congress, which will feature more than 2,700 exhibiting companies from 70 countries. Participant numbers are expected to surpass the 65,000 mark, celebrating yet another milestone as the largest gathering of healthcare professionals anywhere outside Europe. The 2011 Leaders in Healthcare event will take place on January 27, 2011, at the Dubai World Trade Center (UAE).
