27th KIMES Poised for Takeoff March 2011

Once again, the Korea International Medical and Hospital Equipment Show (KIMES) is going to fulfill its role as a catalyst in Korean healthcare, with its March 17-20, 2011, show in Seoul (Korea) and hundreds of manufactures showcasing their products. The organizers of KIMES 2011 are making ready with their campaign designed to position the exhibition as a "must attend” event in 2011, one that will offer significant business opportunities for those in healthcare industries.

Korea's burgeoning medical industry has been very much in evidence at last year's meeting of KIMES, a fact supported by a report from Espicom, a business intelligence company, which puts the yearly growth rate of the Korean medical industry at around 11%, and ranks the Korean market 17th in the world.

Korea, one of the planet's leading economies, with its substantial GDP, and 50 million population, has the highest healthcare expenditures among the so-called "Asian Tigers,” which includes Hong Kong SAR, Singapore, and Taiwan. Furthermore, about 55% of Korean healthcare expenditures are funded by the public sector, which is increasingly expecting higher levels of healthcare. In addition, although compared to European countries Korea has a younger population, its elderly are growing in numbers. It is no surprise, therefore, that KIMES has received strong support from various Korean governmental entities at the national and municipal level.

As before, KIMES 2011 will be providing a business and technology platform for the more than 1,200 companies from 36 countries over the old tried-and-true 36,027 m2 of its exhibition space, well attended by a projected 60,000 visitors. The range of exhibits at KIMES will include consultation, diagnosis central supply, clinical examination, hospital accommodation, emergency equipment, radiology, medical information system, surgical apparatus, oriental medicine, cure apparatus, pharmaceutical, physiotherapy apparatus, obesity cure, healthcare, ophthalmic apparatus, medical device component, medical service, dental apparatus, disposable apparatus, and more.

For the convenience of visitors, free interpreter services will be made available at translation booths located at exhibition entrances and inside the halls. Furthermore, the exhibition hall layout will be sectioned for clarity in the show's structure, as emphasis will be on ensuring a balance between the different exhibition categories.
