KIMES 2011 Promotes International Trade of Medical Equipment

The 2011 Korea International Medical & Hospital Equipment Show (KIMES; Seoul, Korea), held during March 2011, was once again the focus for the world's healthcare sector, further demonstrating the global economic recovery of the medical industry.Posted on 04 May 2011
With 1,026 exhibitors, KIMES 2011 highlighted the increasingly important role played by domestic Korean companies such as Medison Healthcare, Listem, Choongwae, Dong Kang, UBCare, and BIT Computer. In addition, global leaders such as General electric (GE), Siemens, Philips, Shimadzu, and Hitachi fuelled the event as an Asian market showcase. In all, exhibitors from 36 countries were present at the Seoul Convention & Exhibition Center (COEX; Korea). There were three regional special pavilions, with companies from the Wonju Medical industry Techno Valley, the Gyeongsangnam-do Province Pavilion, and an inaugural participation of companies from the Daegu Daegu technopark.
The range of exhibits included consultation, diagnosis central supply, clinical examination, hospital accommodation, emergency equipment, radiology, medical information system, surgical apparatus, oriental medicine, cure apparatus, pharmaceutical, physiotherapy apparatus, obesity cure, healthcare, ophthalmic apparatus, medical device component, medical service, dental apparatus, and disposables.
Concomitantly, more than 40 seminar sessions were held in the COEX Conference Center during the show, delivering a variety of high quality information, covering topics that ranged from governmental policies regarding the medical devices market, new technologies available in medical devices, and financial planning technology and software for doctors and healthcare institutions. An important part of the show was the platform for exchange of information of the Industrial-Educational Cooperation, where universities with medical engineering course cooperate closely with medical industry in Korea. This resulted in several projects, with KIMES providing the platform for sharing the information with industry.
