MEDICA 2011 (Düsseldorf, Germany), which will take place during November 16 - 19, 2011, will host the first ever European Hospital Conference, held concurrently with the 34th German Hospital Conference.Posted on 15 Jun 2011
The first European Hospital Conference will discuss, among other issues, the current aspects of European healthcare policy, as well as the impact of the European Patients' Rights Directive on clinics within the European Union (EU). The conference will be geared towards top decision-makers from hospitals in Europe, and the program content will be coordinated by the European Hospital and Healthcare Federation (HOPE; Brussels, Belgium), the European Association of Hospital Managers (EAHM; Brussels, Belgium), and the European Association of Senior Hospital Physicians (AEMH).
Also new at MEDICA 2011 is the Wound Care Forum, organized in collaboration with the German Institute for Wound Healing (DIW), which will provide information on current trends and methods for the treatment of chronic wounds. The MEDICA Tech Forum will be continued in 2011, and will again highlight innovations in medical technology and initial experiences with these innovations in medical practice, for instance in the field of imaging. In addition, other established forums such as the MEDICA Media Forum (telemedicine/medical IT), MEDICA Vision Forum (innovation forum for research institutions), and the MEDICA Physio Forum (physiotherapy) will also provide sound specialist knowledge and practice-oriented user reports.
Exhibit categories at MEDICA 2011 will focus on electromedicine and medical technology, laboratory technology and diagnostics, physiotherapy and orthopedic technology, medical products (commodities and consumables), as well as information and communication technology, medical furnishings, and special room fittings and building service technology for hospitals and medical practices.
"With its great international flair and range of topics consistently aimed at the needs of healthcare decision-makers, the world's largest medical trade fair MEDICA is an established meeting point for hospital management. Together with the leading national event for the clinic sector, the German Hospital Conference, it thereby offers the ideal setting for the European Hospital Conference," said Joachim Schäfer, managing director of Messe Düsseldorf (Germany).
Held parallel with MEDICA 2011 will be COMPAMED 2011, the International Trade Fair – High Tech Solutions for Medical Technology. Approximately 600 exhibitors will offer a comprehensive spectrum of high-tech solutions for the medical technology industry such as micro systems technology, nano technologies, and new materials, as well as packaging and services. A special highlight will be electronic manufacturing services (EMS), the manufacturing of complete orders for components and devices including complex product-test services for quality assurance.
