The 29th Korea International Medical & Hospital Show (KIMES; Seoul, Korea), North-East Asia’s premier medical event, points out the direction of future medical technology by presenting current and future trends.

Due to the increasing demands of Korean consumers, the development of the medical industry in Korea is reaching fast-paced growth, with KIMES filling the important role of a platform where both manufacturers and consumers can fulfill their expectations. As a result, the Asian international medical and hospital show has been growing as the hub of attraction for all those involved in the medical and health care industries. The Korean healthcare emphasis on robotic surgery and wide-based information technology (IT) infrastructure, among other fields, has become a national driving force for new growth, providing new potential and innovation to the gradually evolving medical industry.

The KIMES exhibition, which is approved by the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry (UFI; Levallois-Perret, France), has also been playing a key role as a bridgehead between Korea and the global medical market as a specialized international medical exhibition. Additionally, Korean governmental investments and initiatives to power-up the local health care industry have driven major global corporations and device manufacturers to constantly increase investments in manufacturing and research and development (R&D) centers throughout Korea.

The range of exhibits at KIMES includes consultation, diagnosis central supply, clinical examination, hospital accommodation, emergency equipment, radiology, medical information system, surgical apparatus, oriental medicine, cure apparatus, pharmaceutical, physiotherapy apparatus, obesity cure, healthcare, ophthalmic apparatus, medical device component, medical service, dental apparatus, disposable apparatus, and others. An added bonus for KIMES visitors is the concomitant comprehensive and diverse educational conference and the international forum for medical professionals, which represents a unique educational opportunity for medical professionals.

KIMES 2012 enjoyed the participation of 458 domestic and 978 international companies from 30 different countries, including the United States, Germany, England, Japan, Italy, Taiwan, and China. Exhibitors at the show introduced close to 30,000 items, including medical devices, hospital equipment, medical IT platforms, and diverse medical products. KIMES 2013 is expected to exceed these figures, drawing up to 60,000 visitors that will come to meet 1,200 exhibitors from 35 countries at the 38,000 square meter exhibition grounds. The 29th KIMES show will take place at COEX (Seoul, Korea) from March 21-24, 2013.
