The 36th edition of Medic West Africa, held during November 2012 at the Eko Hotel & Exhibition Center (Lagos, Nigeria), accommodated 126 exhibiting companies from over 25 countries, and took place on 2,400 m2 of floor space. The figures represent a 54% growth on exhibitors and a 58% growth on floor space from 2011, making it the largest healthcare event to take place in West Africa. The exhibition showcased breakthroughs and technological developments in healthcare, as well as announcing ground-breaking new partnerships and collaborations within the West Africa healthcare sector.
Over the three days of the exhibition, 2,062 visitors—a 42% increase in visitor number from 2011—attended the show grounds and concurrent congress, which included eight accredited conferences on healthcare management, obstetrics and gynecology, hospital planning, medical laboratory, diabetes, resuscitation, imaging and diagnostics, and infectious diseases. Seven master classes were also held, featuring internationally renowned speakers. The congress attracted 220 delegates and established its status as the largest and one of most important healthcare event in West Africa.
“Medic West Africa was a great networking platform for companies entering the West African healthcare market. It was a great venue to meet with potential dealers, healthcare practitioners, and key stakeholders within Nigeria and beyond,” said Patricia Ngnoumen, business manager for ultrasound in West/Central Africa for Royal Philips Electronics (Amsterdam, The Netherlands).
“The organizational skills of Medic West Africa’s Lagos based delivery team were excellent, everything went very smoothly,” said Theuns Burger, head of sub-Sahara at Johannes Stiegelmeyer & Co. (Herford, Germany). “We at Stiegelmeyer see West Africa as a key component of our sales strategy for the continent, and Medic West Africa is the outstanding route to the healthcare market.”
The 37th Medic West Africa exhibition and congress will take place from October 15-17, 2013, in Lagos (Nigeria).
