Revco Parent Acquires Kendro for $320 Million

SPX Corp., the parent of Revco, Jewett and other lab equipment brands (Muskegon, MI, USA), has acquired Kendro Laboratory Products, L.P. (Newtown, CT, USA) for US$320 million. Kendro's products include centrifuges, incubators, ovens, freezers, and clean-air equipment. Many of its products serve the bioprocessing and drug-discovery segments of the life sciences market, while others serve the clinical laboratory market.

Kendro has annual revenues in excess of US$200 million. Its products are marketed under the Heraeus, Sorvall, and Carr brand names. The company will become part of Revco Technologies, SPX's life sciences business based in Asheville, North Carolina (USA). The combined company will derive more than 50% of its revenues from international markets. Revco is a leading manufacturer of controlled-temperature equipment for the life sciences and clinical laboratory markets. SPX is a global provider of technical products, systems, and services.
