A device that tests for signs of early cardiovascular disease was featured as "Device of the Month” in the January 2005 issue of Today in Cardiology.Posted on 15 Feb 2005
Called the CVProfilor, the device measures the elasticity of small and large arteries to determine if patients have early-stage cardiovascular disease that requires further diagnosis and treatment. The test, approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), is inexpensive, noninvasive, quick to perform, and provides immediate results. The CVProfilor was developed by Hypertension Diagnostics, Inc. (St. Paul, MN, USA).
"Recent medical research shows blood pressure to be ineffective for measuring hypertension,' said Mark Schwarz, chairman and CEO of Hypertension Diagnostics. "We expect the American Society of Hypertension will revise its definition of hypertension to emphasize the vascular nature of the disease in the very near future.”
