A point-of-care (POC) diabetes analyzer monitors a patient's glycemic control and helps physicians to encourage patient compliance by delivering actionable test results during a patient visit.Posted on 17 Mar 2008
The DCA Vantage immunoassay analyzer is intended for diabetes management, and it provides precise and accurate quantitative test results for glycosylated hemoglobin, (HbA1c) levels in whole blood. With a single urine sample, the analyzer also provides quantitative test results for low levels of Albumin, Creatinine, and A/C Ratio in the physician office or clinic. Physicians can enter a patient identification (ID) via touch screen or barcode and view the on-board printed reports and HbA1c patient trending graphs. An on-board memory can store up to 4000 results with practical sorting capabilities. Physicians can also download the patient results to an external hospital information system.
Simple, convenient testing is enabled by an intuitive color touch-screen display. The operator loads the test cartridge which includes the patient sample onto the system; the system then automatically performs the test procedure, stores the patient results and displays, prints and uploads the results to the laboratory information systems (LIS) or to hospital information systems (HIS) for sites that require compliance and control of decentralized testing. In addition, features such as operator ID entry, quality control reminders, test lockout, remote access, and adjustable correlation to reference methods are also available. Other features include the ability to adjust correlation parameters so that reference assays can be matched to standardized results over multiple systems. The DCA Vantage Analyzer is a product of Siemens Healthcare (Munich, Germany).
"The DCA Vantage Analyzer builds on the proven technology and performance of its predecessor, the DCA 2000+ while adding new capabilities our customers need in their daily practice,” said Arnd Kaldowski, senior vice president of POC business at Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics. "Siemens strives to continuously deliver systems that provide tests with proven clinical benefit and that fulfill the needs of our customers concerning ease of use and data management in the point-of-care setting.”
