An information management system, Rapidlink, that captures critical information from blood gas and coagulation analyzers and tranfers the data to other systems, such as the laboratory information system (LIS), clinical information system (CIS), or hospital information system (HIS) features new enhancements.

Rapidlink version 1.6, from Bayer Diagnostics (Tarryown, NY, USA) provides English, French, Italian, Spanish, and German languages. In addition to connections with Bayer's Rapidlab and Rapidpoint systems, Rapidlink now provides support for Rapidpoint 400 Automatic Quality Control (AQC). Also, the new version enables host query on the Rapidpoint 400, confirming that entered identification represents the patient who is being treated. Future links will include Bayer's hospital blood glucose system, still under development.

"Rapidlink allows for centralized management of remote point-of-care systems by providing instant access to quality control and clinical data,” said Paul Adams, marketing manager, Near Patient Testing Segment. "The system also permits customers to see the real-time status of Bayer Diagnostic's critical care analyzers.”
