Portable Electrical Safety Analyzer Performs Automated Testing

An automated, multifunctional electrical safety analyzer (ESA) assists safety professionals test medical devices to the newest safety standards in just minutes.

The Fluke ESA615 ESA is an all-in-one solution with a multimeter, ESA, and electrocardiogram (ECG) simulator in a single test instrument, offering built-in standardized test sequences so every test is executed quickly and accurately, with clear pass/fail indications. With the aid of built-in automation, there is no need for technicians to carry a laptop around for automated testing and documentation of electrical safety tests. Quick data entry and error-free reporting features reduce test time and improve the quality of the results, making data management easy.


Preset templates allow the testing of global standard at the push of a button. The device performs all primary electrical safety tests, including mains (line) voltage, protective earth (ground wire) resistance, MAP (insulation) resistance, device current, and applied parts (patient leakage) tests. A push-button interface allows quick access to highly comprehensive functions and features, and an intuitive interface guides the user through tests.

The ESA615 features a large display for clear indication of available functions, set-up criteria, device under test receptacle conditions, and test results. Data can be entered quickly with a plug–and-play keyboard, barcode scanner, and/or on-board data entry interface. Data archival is fast and simple via wireless communication or through a removable memory card with capacity for up to 100 automated test sequences and 1,000 test results. The Fluke ESA615 is a product of Fluke Biomedical (Everett, WA, USA), and has been approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

The ESA615 tests devices to the new IEC62353 (VDE751), IEC60601-1 (2nd and 3rd editions), ANSI/AAMI ES-1, NFPA-99, and AS/NZS 3551 standards. Customer interfaces include English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, or Portuguese.
