An exclusive global alliance for marketing hemostasis products has been extended through June 2004 by Dade Behring (Deerfield, IL, USA) and Sysmex Corp. (Kobe, Japan). With the renewal, the two companies will continue to provide their customers around the world with a single source for analyzers and reagents to measure the ability of patients to form and dissolve blood clots.

The agreement covers all of Sysmex's hemostatis analyzers (CA series). It also covers Dade Behring's hemostasis reagents, including standards and controls that run on these machines. The systems are used by laboratories to perform assays that can detect bleeding risk, monitor drug therapies, and detect thrombophilia and other coagulation dysfunctions. The two companies have cooperated in the introduction of new analyzers and have achieved a leading market share worldwide since forming their alliance in 1995.

"Our alliance allows efficient and convenient access to the best lineup of products designed to meet customer needs,” said Jim Reid-Anderson, president and CEO of Dade Behring. "It also offers the unique advantages of two great companies combining their strengths and operating in concert for the benefit of the customer.”
