A pager-sized digital Holter recorder is now available for heart monitoring. Called Aria, the recorder uses four leads to record three channels of patient electrocardiogram (ECG) data. Features include autocalibration, patient event recording capability, and a light-emitting diode (LED) to confirm recording. The recorder weighs only three ounces and is powered by one AA alkaline or rechargeable battery.Posted on 10 Oct 2000
Aria is the product of Del Mar Medical Systems (Irvine, CA, USA), a company specializing in the design, production, and distribution of Holter monitors and analyzers. The new recorder interfaces with current Del Mar scanners or the company's Impressario via universal serial bus (USB) for data download.
No larger than a pager, the Aria records more than 24 hours of full-fidelity ECG data without data compression, a significant innovation that will be leveraged to the fullest extent in future product offerings for the ambulatory recording market, notes Raphael Henkin, Ph.D., president of Del Mar Medical Systems.
