Electronic Medical Record Collates All Levels of Documentation

An at-home assimilation system integrates paper documents and electronic device data feeds to an electronic medical record (EMR), while simultaneously creating a full paperless chart.

The SmartScribe EMR allows clinicians to capture all clinical data at the patient's home whether on paper or on electronic devices, with the ability to feed all information into an electronic medical record (EMR) to generate a patient's chart, while simultaneously populating an imaging system. In addition to capturing all the required documentation, the system allows for all miscellaneous paper documents relating to the patient to be stored electronically in the same chart, eliminating the need for storage of future paper records by an agency.

The system offers complete flexibility on capture device tools; as physician orders, lab reports, or other documents are added, they are all digitized and complied to create a completely paperless, easily searchable patient EMR and treatment plan. This integration leverages existing billing systems, as well as enhancing operational issues, reporting, coding, and establishing benchmarks. The system not only meets the meaningful use guidelines set forth by the Affordable Care Act (ACA), it exceeds those requirements through the use of a paperless chart. The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) is a US federal statute that was signed into United States law by President Barack Obama on March 23, 2010. The laws focus on reform of the private health insurance market, provide better coverage for those with preexisting conditions, improve prescription drug coverage in Medicare and extend the life of the Medicare Trust fund.
