Connectivity Solutions Enhance Merlin EHR Integration

Merlin.net now offers connectivity with more electronic medical record (EMR) solutions and cardiac rhythm management (CRM) data management systems.

The Merlin.net patient care network (PCN), an Internet-based repository of patient and implantable device data, is now fully integrated with the General Electric (GE) Healthcare (Chalfont St. Giles, United Kingdom) Centricity EMR, as well as with the Scottcare (Cleveland, OH, USA) OneView CRM device management system.

The data transferred to the Merlin.net PCN is fully encrypted and meets or exceeds all applicable national data privacy and security requirements in every country where the system is used. TheMerlin.net PCN organizes ICD data on patient heart rhythms and device performance that is vital to patient care, making the information available for fast analysis and easy review. The data can also be sent directly to a clinic's or a hospital's EMR system so that it is included in the patient's comprehensive record. Physicians can then remotely monitor and assess patient device data and determine the level of care needed. Alert notification delivery times can be customized to fit in with physician determined clinic hours, including any after-hours processes the clinic might provide. The Merlin.net PCN is a product of St. Jude Medical (St. Paul, MN, USA).

"Integrating GE's Centricity EMR with Merlin.net was a major milestone for taking our remote patient management to the next level," said Dan Goldman, MD, of The Cardiology Center (Delray Beach, FL, USA). "We are now able to achieve greater efficiency through simplified clinic workflows and by having complete patient information in one electronic record."

"We chose ScottCare OneView as our device management solution because it truly communicates equally with all device vendors, and specifically, it works well with Merlin.net," said LaNita Hobby, RN, device clinic supervisor at Little Rock Cardiology (AK, USA). "The smooth integration with all device companies and the availability of complete information, whether discrete data or PDF's, made this the right solution for our clinic's needs."
