New Interactive Clinical Case Discussion Platform

Clinicalsession dot com, a new free interactive website, facilitates doctor-to-doctor collaboration and consultation on clinical cases.

The new website, which is exclusively for physicians, allows any doctor to consult colleagues or have an online clinical case discussion wherever they are, using any device with an internet connection. Doctors can hold online meetings, interact, and collaborate on any shared document in real time by uploading files, inviting colleagues, and connecting to the website. During the sessions, each doctor has his or her own colored mouse indicator on the screen. The main objective of the developers was to develop a user-friendly interactive website, similar to face-to-face meetings as possible.

Use of the site is intended for doctors in rural medicine, doctors on call, general practitioners, consulting specialists, and medical students. Potential uses include melanoma screening, preoperative anesthesiology evaluation, clinical case discussions for interns, online consultations between emergency physicians treating travelling patients and their attending physician, diagnosis clarification, e-learning, and any other situation in which a doctor needs the input of a colleague. Clinicalsession dot com is based in both Miami (FL, USA) and Barcelona (Spain).

"All doctors know the value of consulting colleagues about their clinical cases. However due to the reality of busy schedules, it can be difficult for them to meet face to face," said Domingo Obradors, MD, director of the medical team at ClinicalSession. "Unfortunately other methods of communication such as the telephone, email, or teleconferences are not practical or interactive enough."
