New modules are part of a range of cardiovascular information technology (IT) solutions that provide a patient-centric consolidation of all relevant cardiology procedures on a shared platform, a true clinical workflow mapping, and in-depth clinical content, with refined clinical tools.

Agfa HealthCare (Mortsel, Belgium) launched three new cardiology data-management modules at the 2011 Congress of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC), held August 27-31, 2011, in Paris (France). The new modules being launched include digital reporting for cardiac computed tomography (CT), transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI), and congenital echocardiography. A noninvasive diagnostic procedure that provides fast and accurate data on heart size, anatomy, and status of coronary vessels, cardiac CT is one of the most advanced cardiac imaging techniques. Agfa HealthCare’s Cardiac CT Reporting module addresses the needs of the cardiologists who are reading this type of diagnostic procedure.

TAVI is an innovative interventional technique for aortic stenosis patients who are not suitable for conventional aortic valve surgery. Agfa HealthCare’s TAVI Reporting module provides a structure for fast and effective data management around this procedure, including a full and transparent integration with the device management module.

Cardiac congenital diseases are a complex set of abnormalities that can affect children or adults, and which require special care and health management.

Agfa HealthCare's Cardiology Congenital Reporting module provides cardiologists with high-end functionalities for the data management of these patients, including Z-scoring management, dynamic normal and abnormal anatomy diagrams, and IPCCC (International Pediatric and Congenital Cardiac Code) integration.

At the ESC Congress 2011, Agfa HealthCare demonstrated how its range of cardiovascular solutions provides the benefits of digital cardiology at the cardiologist’s fingertips. The new tools within the portfolio are designed to provide in-depth procedure-oriented clinical content, while sharing a common platform with the rest of the clinical procedures (coronary and peripheral angiography, percutaneous coronary intervention [PCI], shunt closure, adult echocardiography, stress testing, electrophysiology, ablation, and device therapy--particulate matter [PM], implantable cardioverter defibrillator [ICD], cardiac resynchronization therapy [CRT]). One-click front-end image-data integration, clinical workflow integration from report elaboration to report distribution and a unified clinical back-end for research data complete the consolidation of images and data across the wide range of cardiology subspecialties.

Stefan Goerss, business manager cardiology EMEA for Agfa HealthCare, commented, “With the launch of these new modules we are enriching our already well-established cardiology data management solution with components that reflect the latest developments in the field of cardiac interventional procedures and heart imaging.”
