Cardiovascular Tools Provide Clinical Images Throughout the Enterprise

A new cardiovascular suite provides fully functional remote data access for physicians, including report signature and finalization. The secure system presents high-quality image review for all cardiovascular modalities across patient populations, and improves productivity and workflow and reduces hospital costs.

Agfa HealthCare (Mortsel, Belgium) will demonstrate its much-anticipated Impax CV Web+ system at the American College of Cardiology’s (ACC) 62nd annual scientific Session & Expo held in San Francisco (CA, USA), from March 9–11, 2013. The technology provides physicians with access to cardiovascular images and reports irrespective of location.

Agfa HealthCare has developed the Impax Cardiovascular Suite to provide a single point of access to support effective diagnostic workflow including secure access to patient data and the ability to create, edit, and sign off on advanced structured clinical reports.

The Impax CV Web+ connects to all of an integrated cardiovascular information system’s studies and technologies including cardiac catheterization, vascular ultrasound, adult and pediatric echocardiography, cardiac CT/CT angiography (CTA), nuclear cardiology, and electrocardiography (ECG) data. The dynamic, standards-based, vendor-neutral technology provides full access to all essential tool sets and measurements through the hospital network or Web for crucial patient care needs. Impax CV Web+ utilizes either Citrix or VMware infrastructure to provide Impax CV customers with secure access to patient reports and images.

The advanced solution also has the potential to bring significant cost savings to hospitals while deploying full review functionality on-site. Instead of purchasing a workstation and associated hardware and software components, Impax CV Web+ can simply be deployed in the hospital (or elsewhere), bringing the benefits of a traditional workstation with lower expense.

“Impax CV Web+ is a cost-effective, easy-to-use, and easy-to-implement solution,” said Charles Wickens, global general manager, cardiovascular information technology (IT), Agfa HealthCare. “This tool was built with cardiologists in mind as they juggle the demands of increased workload and personal life. They can spend time with their family, then log in and finish the last few cases or tasks of the day because their work can be accessible from home.”

Compatible with existing as well as future versions of Impax Cardiovascular, Impax CV Web+ is scheduled to be released in the second half of 2013. The Impax CV Web+ is a work in progress and is not yet available in the United States or Canada.
