he world's largest medical show, MEDICA, will attract even more foreign visitors this year than last year, according to the organizers, who expect more than 120,000 visitors in all. This 33rd World Forum for Physicians' Practices and Hospitals will be held November 21-24 in Dusseldorf (Germany) at the Trade Fair Center, as usual.

This year's show will have a special focus on telemedicine, showcasing the latest technologies and trends in new information and communications systems for the health care sector. Also, the 21st World Congress for Clinical Pathology and Laboratory Medicine will join MEDICA at the Trade Fair Center. The main banner of the German Hospital Congress running concurrently will be "Hospitals as Business Enterprises.” ComPaMED, a partner to MEDICA, will showcase products and services geared to the needs of production managers, technical buyers, and R&D heads in the medical sector.

Organizers say the international demand for exhibit space has soared, with many newly merged companies highlighting their new scale and strength. The major theme areas are electromedical equipment/medical technology, laboratory equipment/diagnostics, physiotherapy/orthopedic technology, consumables and requisites, information and communications systems, fabrics, medical furniture and equipment, and facility management.
