NDS Launches 4K UHD Display at MEDICA 2016

NDS Surgical Imaging (San Jose, CA, USA) will showcase its new 4K (3840x2160) pixel Ultra-High-Definition (UHD) visualization technology, which delivers four times the resolution of current "full-HD" video standard. The new display will be presented at MEDICA 2016 (Dusseldorf, Germany), the world’s leading trade fair for the medical industry, which is taking place between the 14th and 17th of November.

The new Radiance 32-inch Ultra 4K display offers a dramatic increase in image clarity and detail, bringing high-precision 4K visualization to endoscopic surgery and a range of minimally invasive operating room (OR) applications. State-of-the-art TruColor technology maximizes a 1080 pixel camera image, providing higher brightness, higher contrast, and higher accuracy of color reproduction, providing an endoscopic experience that more accurately resembles anatomy the human eye would visualize during an open surgical procedure.

TruColor with Medi-Match color calibration assures consistent image quality and accurate color reproduction with a typical luminance of 900 cd/m2 and a temperature color of 6500°K, thus providing improved visualization in high ambient light environments by overcoming glare and reflection. Exclusive features include splash-proof, edge-to-edge glass to enable easy cleaning to help speed OR turnaround, and an optional ZeroWire embedded receiver.

4K resolution actually refers to a horizontal resolution of 4,096 pixels. The use of width to characterize the overall resolution marks a switch from previous video standards such as 480i and 1080p, which categorize media according to its vertical dimension. Using that same convention, 4K horizontal resolution is 2160 pixels.
