Tests for Antibodies to Antiphospholipids

Kits for 11 new tests detect antiphospholipid antibodies, present in high levels in patients with antiphospholipid syndrome, which is characterized by recurrent thrombosis, thrombocytopenia, and fetal loss. The tests were developed by Corgenix Medical Corp. (Denver, CO, USA) and are designed for use in the laboratory diagnosis and risk assessment of blood-clotting disorders. The company has developed other anti-phospholipid tests, including an assay for anticardiolipin, an antiphosphatidylserine, and an antiprothrombin test kit.
