Ultra-Sensitive CRP Assay

An ultra-sensitive immunoturbidimetric assay has been developed for C-reactive protein (CRP), an acute phase protein that increases in serum in response to inflammation that occurs in such disorders as peripheral vascular disease and rheumatoid arthritis. The new assay measures the increased turbidity resulting from antibody-antigen complexes formed when sample and antibody reagent are mixed. The assay has a sensitivity of 0.1 mg/l. The ready-to-use liquid CRP reagents can be placed directly on a chemistry analyzer and will yield precise results in minutes.
The assay was developed by Polymedco, Inc. (Cortlandt Manor, NY, USA). The company says application parameters are available for most chemistry analyzers.
