Rapid Test for Ulcer Screening

A new one-step 10-minute test is designed to detect Helicobacter pylori, which is responsible for more than 85% of ulcers.

The new test can be used by doctors while a patient is in the office. Called EZ-H.P., the test utilizes an advanced technology that requires only a single drop of a patient's blood.
The test was developed by Biomerica, Inc. (Newport Beach, CA, USA).

The EZ-H.P. is part of Biomerica's line of easy-to-use rapid tests designed to detect disease before they become catastrophic, incurable, or costly to treat. Nearly all duodenal ulcer patients and more than 80% of stomach ulcer patients are infected with H pylori. Both men and women are infected. In addition to peptic ulcer disease, H pylori infection has also been shown to be a significant risk factor for stomach cancer.

Biomerica has also developed a rapid test for detecting fecal occult blood, as an early warning sign of bowel problems, and a rapid test for detecting prostate specific antigen (EZ-PSA), an early warning indicator for prostate cancer.
