Both the International Biotech exhibition and the Lab Automation Europe exhibition and conference will take place in London (UK) on November 16-17, 2004. Registration and entrance to both are free. Last year, there were more than 2,300 attendees and 170 exhibitors. This year, the organizers expect a 20% increase in attendance. Both exhibitions take place in the same hall (Olympia), so visitors can move freely between the two shows. Included are poster sessions, seminars, and career advice, together with networking and deal-making opportunities.

The organizers have increased the "Science in Practice” grant to 2,000 pounds (about U.S.$3,575) this year. This grant will be awarded to a practicing life scientist from academia, industry, or government who preregisters for and attends either the International Biotech or the Lab Automation Europe exhibitions or the Lab Automation Europe conference. The award is for the purchase of equipment, disposables, reagents, software, or other products from any of the exhibiting companies at either event.

"Last year's show had a real buzz, with new products being launched, new technologies on display, and a busy exhibition floor,” said Rachael Stroud, marketing manager, IIR Exhibitions (London, UK). "Visitors really liked the fact that, as organizers of two of the most significant events in the life science calendar, we were also supporting their work. Because of this feedback, we have increased the award to 2,000 pounds for this year's event.” More details are available on the website.com.
