Travel Grants Announced for AACC Meeting

Fifty laboratory scientists from developing countries have been awarded travel grants to attend the 2005 annual meeting of the American Association for Clinical Chemistry (AACC, Washington, DC, USA) in Orlando (FL, USA), from July 24-July 28, 2005.

The grants were awarded to scientists from 34 different countries, including Russia, India, China, Cuba, Iran, and Eritrea. The International Travel Grant program was established in 1992 so members of the international clinical laboratory community could attend the AACC annual meeting and to encourage relationships between scientists of other countries and the United States. The program, supported by the AACC's Van Slyke Foundation (VSF), promotes the international exchange of science and information.

The 2005 AACC conference in Orlando will have more than 19,000 attendees, who will be offered an exceptional program that includes everything laboratorians need to stay ahead of rapid changes in clinical lab science, medicine, and management. The conference features plenary sessions, 33 EduTraks, 45 workshops, 87 roundtables, 495 exhibitors, and nearly 1,000 posters.

The AACC provides U.S. and worldwide leadership in advancing the practice and profession of clinical laboratory medicine and its role in improving health care. Its members develop and perform tests conducted in hospital laboratories, clinics, medical centers, and other healthcare settings.
