New Automation-Friendly Products

The launch of two new consumable products that are "automation friendly” is designed to provide a complete solution for sample tracking and laboratory cataloguing while reducing errors and increasing expression effectiveness.

The first product includes high efficiency Escherichia coli strains as chemically competent cells in 96 well plates, which have been validated for automation. Each plate has a unique barcode that includes the plate's part number, batch number, and a unique identifier for the plate. This makes it easy to inventory the cells within the orchestratorIMS database of NextGen Sciences (Huntingdon, UK), which developed these new products.

OrchestratorIMS is an information-management system that integrates gene manipulation software and a sample- and reagents-tracking database with robotic platforms for automated gene cloning and protein expression. The software provides a seamless link between the process of designing an expression construct virtually and their development and expression in the laboratory, enabling researchers to plan, coordinate, execute, monitor, and track cloning and expression strategies. NextGen's expressionfactory and expressionworkstation platforms are integrated into the orchestratorIMS, enabling data to be exchanged in real time between the robotics and the database for truly orchestrated operations.
