Improved EBV and CMV Assays

New versions of assays for the monitoring and treatment of Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) and cytomegalovirus (CMV) feature improvements that provide highly accurate and reproducible sample testing and ease of use. Both assays have received the CE Mark.

These ReSSQ assays are the products of LightUp Technologies AB (Huddinge, Sweden) and its distribution partner, DakoCytomation A/S (Glostrup, Denmark). The assays have been shown to be very robust and sensitive, and are validated for use in conjunction with several real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) platforms. The newly improved versions were presented at the International Herpesvirus Workshop (IHW) meeting in Turku (Finland) beginning on July 30, 2005.

"These enhanced products are the results of LightUp Technologies' continuous striving to improve and extend its product line, which is targeted towards clinical diagnostic laboratories for efficient, accurate, and cost-effective DNA detection and quantification of viral pathogens,” observed Ulrica Sehistedt, Ph.D., CEO and head of commercial operations at LightUp Technologies.

Geoff Gower, director of microbiology at DakoCytomation, added, "We are confident these improved CE-Marked products will meet customers' expectations and prove an important addition to our portfolio.” DakoCytomation has co-exclusive rights to market and sell LightUp's products in Europe.

Based on LightUp Technologies' proprietary diagnostic platform, the unique LightUp probe at the heart of the ReSSQ assays becomes fluorescent upon binding to the chosen target DNA and is designed to work with real-time PCR.
