A product based on new technology called Neowater is designed to enhance the sensitivity and dynamic range of real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR).Posted on 20 Sep 2005
Neowater-based products consist of a stable system of hydrated nano-particles that reduce the entropy of aqueous solutions and mimic intracellular water. They also exhibit hydrophobic properties. The technology, developed by Do-Coop Technologies Ltd. (OR-Yehuda, Israel), is designed to enhance existing reagents, applications, and processes.
The non-ionic Neowater works by coating components at their molecular level, thus exposing, increasing and/or enhancing those specific surfaces required for a specific reaction but normally not available to interact. Very small volumes of Neowater and reduced concentrations of components are needed for a reaction. Neowater allows for low volume miniaturization of life sciences products and processes.
The Neowater qPCR enhancer has been especially formulated to enhance real-time PCR reactions in an incremental, nondisruptive, yet highly effective way. The enhancer allows for a significant increase in the PCR reaction sensitivity, specificity, amplification efficiency, and dynamic range, and has the ability to reliably detect rare target amplicons.
The company announced it will continue with its previously launched, highly successful free samples program to allow end-users to try the new product and verify the company's claims.
"This new product, with validated third-party results, provides researchers with an easy yet effective way to enhance their real-time PCR reactions without the need to change equipment or protocols,” noted Eran Gabbai, founder and CTO of Do-Coop Technologies. "All that is required with our family of Neowater enhancer products is to pre-dilute the reaction's components in Neowater enhancer and proceed as usual.”
