A new fully automated slide maker and stainer is designed as an integrated option to streamline the workflow and improve the productivity of the hematology process.Posted on 31 Oct 2005
The Autoslide is designed for use with the Advia 2120 hematology system of Bayer HealthCare LLC (Tarrytown, NY, USA), where it can process up to 120 slides per hour, based on user-defined reflex criteria. A conservative 75 µl of patient sample is aspirated only when a slide is required.
Clinical trials show the Advia system with the new Autoslide meets or exceeds expectations in all aspects of performance, including ease of use, software features, workflow, quality of smears and staining, and reliability. A Smart Sample feature of the Autoslide allows the user to define reflexive slide sampling criteria based on morphology, ranges, flags, and demographics for the right results the first time. Another feature called Smart Stain ensures quality under the microscope by providing high-quality, single-use reagents for each slide and user-definable stain protocols to accommodate individual preferences.
The Advia 2120 hematology system is designed for moderate-to-high sample-volume workloads. The small footprint includes convenient on-board reagent storage for processing 1,850 samples with automatic inventory tracking.
"Great diagnostics can be done with the Advia Autoslide system,” said Joseph M. Jou, M.D., a consultant for hematology and hemostasis in the core laboratory at the University of Barcelona (Spain). "All slides were made correctly based on our user-defined criteria.”
