Alliance to Develop Diagnostic Antibodies

A collaboration to develop, manufacture, and market antigen affinity purified monoclonal and polyclonal antibodies for the diagnostics industry has been formed by Antex Biologics Inc. (Gaithersburg, MD, USA) and O.E.M. Concepts (Tom's River, NJ, USA).

Antex will supply O.E.M. with bacteria that have been grown using the company's Nutriment Signal Transduction (NST) technology. Antex has shown that NST-bacteria express antigens that more closely resemble those seen within the body--antigens that may not be expressed in bacteria grown under laboratory conditions. Antibodies produced from these bacteria should significantly enhance the sensitivity of a range of diagnostic tests, says Antex.

O.E.M Concepts will manufacture and market the antibodies to the diagnostics industry for inclusion in in vitro diagnostic test kits. Antex will receive royalties on these sales.
O.E.M. focuses on the supply of critical components used in the development and manufacture of assays in most areas of clinical diagnostics as well as food-borne illness detection.
