A test panel for diagnosing respiratory infections, including severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) and avian flu, will reduce diagnostic time from weeks to hours, enabling treatments to be administered within a day or two of onset and permitting early treatment.Posted on 19 Apr 2006
The MultiCode tests, developed by EraGen Bioscieces Inc. (Madison, WI, USA), received the Frost and Sullivan Award for Potential Innovation of the Year. EraGen is a venture-backed biotechnology company focused on automating molecular diagnostics. It is establishing alliances within Wisconsin to address global health concerns and innovative diagnostic development throughout the state.

The Multicode tests are being validated at the University of Wisconsin Hospital (Madison, USA) and other clinics. EraGen's ongoing collaborations within the state include the BloodCenter of Wisconsin (Milwaukee, WI, USA) and Promega Corporation (Madison, WI, USA).
