Iron-binding capacity is useful for the differential diagnosis of anemia, iron-deficiency anemia, thalassemia, sideroblastic anemia, and iron poisoning. The dTIBIC reagent is the latest MicroTip assay on the Vitros 5,1 chemistry system of Ortho-Clinical Diagnostics (Raritan, NJ, USA). The availability of the dTIBC assay enhances the capabilities of the Vitros chemistry system by eliminating manual sample preparation, reducing sample volume requirement, and expediting test reporting. The system allows for the integration of the new MicroTip assay with the general chemistry assay workflow, providing enhanced service and security while maximizing labor and cost savings.
The Vitros MicroTip technology features disposable tips and cuvettes, eliminating the maintenance, cost, and risk of sample and reagent carryover and cross contamination associated with traditional chemistry systems.
