Influenza A and B Antigens Rapidly Detected

Developed by Inverness Medical (Waltham, MA, USA), a manufacturer of rapid immunodiagnostic devices, Clearview Exact Influenza A & B is an immunochromatographic membrane assay that uses sandwich immunoassay technology. It consists of a dipstick device containing a membrane strip that has separate regions with immobilized influenza A and B specific monoclonal antibodies, and a gold conjugate that also consists of specific influenza A and B antibodies.

The assay has been scientifically engineered so that it can be performed and interpreted by non-laboratory personnel. Administration time is minimal and appropriate anti-viral agents can be identified. This reduces the amount of referrals to hospitals, and helps to prevent the superfluous use of antimicrobials. By differentiating between infections caused by Type A viruses from those caused by Type B viruses, Clearview Exact A & B will help to contain potential epidemics and maximize the targeted use of antiviral agents.
