Nanoident Subsidiary Announces Technology Platform

Biodent Technologies Inc., (Menlo Park, CA, USA), a newly formed subsidiary of Nanoident Technologies AG (Linz, Austria), is developing an innovative technology platform whereby a new printing process is applied to organic semiconductor-based photonic sensors, which may have applications in molecular diagnostics and chemical analysis.

Basically, Biodent is developing an integrated biochip reader, combining microfluidic chips with opto-electronic detection circuitry for on-the-spot readout of diagnostic tests. The integrated biochip reader offers several significant benefits over current diagnostic technology that will enlarge the variety of tests available to the medical, defense, and consumer markets.

An integrated reader will eliminate the need for bulky and extremely expensive external readers, enabling mobile diagnostics, immediate test results, and significant cost savings. The integrated biochip readers will be used for food and water analysis, chemical and biologic detection, and molecular diagnostics.

Nanoident is a nanotechnology company that develops organic semiconductor-based photonic sensors. The company produces opto-electronic sensors for market segments such as security and the life sciences.
