A new web-based software system will collect laboratory immunodiagnostic testing data and securely transmit, store, correlate, and distribute the results to laboratories and healthcare providers. This is the result of a strategic partnership between Umedik, Inc. (Stamford, CT, USA) and River Run Software Group (Greenwich, CT, USA). The partnership's first project will be for Umedik's Fast Q E coli 0157:H7 food testing assay.Posted on 06 Sep 2000
The new software is designed to work with Umedik's Dia/Pro immunodiagnostic system. This system is currently being developed to detect the presence of E coli 0157:H7 bacteria in biofluids, including food, water, animal, and human feces and blood. It provides quantitative diagnostic results when a drop of biofluid is placed on a disposable, single-use immunodiagnostic chip. The biochip automatically separates a predetermined volume of biofluid, eliminating the need for a centrifuge. The biochip is analyzed in a small, bench-top reader, providing results in minutes.
River Run will become the applications service provider for data generated by the Dia/Pro system, serving as the gateway between healthcare organizations and laboratories, performing tests, collecting information, performing statistical analysis on the results, warehousing the data in a secure environment, and distributing the analysis to appropriate parties.
Umedik is currently adapting the Dia/Pro technology to develop other tests for medical, food, veterinary, and environmental applications.
