Asian-Pacific Congress Postponed due to International Uncertainty

The organizers of the 9th Asian Pacific Congress of Clinical Biochemistry (APCCB), scheduled to take place in New Delhi (India), November 12-16, have announced that the congress has been postponed. Although details have not yet been finalized, the organizers hope that the congress can take place in early March 2002. Confirmation and details will be provided as soon as possible.

The November congress became the victim of the current political uncertainty and instability in the world. As increasing numbers of exhibitors, speakers, and delegates cancelled their involvement, the organizers had no alternative but to postpone the event. The International Federation of Clinical Chemistry (IFCC) and the APCCB both recognized the inevitability of this decision.

"Dr. K. P. Sinha and all his colleagues involved in the organization of the 9th APCCB have my thanks and my sympathy,” said Graham Beastall, chair of the IFCC Congress and Conference Division. "My thanks for taking a very difficult decision at the earliest possible time and my sympathy because of the great disappointment that the decision will bring, especially after so much hard work over the last three years of planning. I am hopeful that political stability will gradually return…and I hope that everyone planning to attend in November will go to the rearranged event in March and be joined by new exhibitors and many new delegates.”
