Data-Management System for Laboratories

A new data-management system, called CentraLink Network Solution System, connects multiple instruments through a single server to the laboratory information system (LIS). The system is designed for use with the Advia line of Bayer Diagnostics (Tarrytown, NY, USA).

The Advia CentraLink provides consolidated review and edit for laboratory instruments, consolidated review of quality control, graphical cytograms for hematology, a single LIS connection, and data-management contingencies. The system enables a laboratory to realize the benefits of an automation solution by integrating data management, providing a work order buffer, and providing rapid system communications. The CentraLink currently supports interfaces for the Advia 1650 Chemistry System, the Centaur Immunoassay System, and the 120 Hematology System. In the future, it will support additional interfaces.

CentraLink can consolidate data for up to 16 analytical systems and can be configured with up to five client workstations, all providing identical functionality. Users have the option to review records for all connected instruments or any single connected instrument. Critical functions such as review, edit, quality control, and instrument warnings can be customized to meet laboratory needs.
