Anti-HBs Assays Available on Automated System

New assays are designed for in vitro diagnostic use for the qualitative measurement of total antibodies to hepatitis B surface antigen (anti-HBs) in human serum and plasma.Posted on 17 Sep 2002
Anti-HBs are indicative of laboratory diagnosis of seroconversion from hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection. The assays were developed by Diagnostic Products Corp. (DPC, Los Angeles, CA, USA) and are run on the company's automated Immulite and Immulite 2000 systems. The assays have been cleared by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). DPC has a total of seven hepatitis B kits now under consideration by the FDA.
"The hepatitis B antibody assays represent a huge market opportunity for DPC and further establish the company as a significant provider of infectious disease diagnostic products,” said Michael Ziering, president and CEO of DPC. "Our customers will benefit from the high level of performane that these assays provide as they will be able to run them with random access automated ease.”
