Called Impax ES, the workstation is designed to meet the needs of all major aspects of orthopedic surgical planning. The workstation includes workflow tools for hip replacement, knee replacement, biometry, osteotomy, and coxomety. It is an open system with the ability to import, display, and archive DICOM images, and it features an extensive library of 12,000 templates from 43 manufacturers, including hip, knee, elbow, hand, shoulder, osteotomy, pediatric, and screw templates. Impax ES is the product of Agfa Healthcare (Mortsel, Belgium).
"Impax ES for orthopedics has advanced functionality and extensive templates to address the collective needs of the orthopedic department,” noted Dave Wilson, orthopedic solution business manager, Agfa HealthCare. "Through a single workstation, trauma surgeons can plan the placement of screws, nails, and plates; pediatric orthopedists can plan osteotomies and track degeneration; and orthopedic surgeons can plan hip, knee, shoulder, hand, elbow, and ankle surgeries.”
Impax ES has a unified user interface to provide a single entry point to images, and follows open standards to allow JPG and other formats to be imported. The workstation is also capable of distributing planning results for remote viewing.
