American Medical Systems to Buy Laserscope for $715 Million

American Medical Systems, (AMS, Minnetonka, MN, USA), a supplier of medical devices and procedures to cure pelvic disorders, and Laserscope (San Jose, CA, USA), a leader in the surgical treatment of obstructive benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), have announced that AMS will acquire Laserscope for about U.S.$715 million. Upon the closing of the transaction, Laserscope will become an indirect wholly owned subsidiary of AMS.
