Non-Metallic Orthopedic Implant Option Available

A knotless implant system utilizes implants made of a radiolucent elastic plastic for the attachment of soft tissue to bone.

The Magnum PI Knotless implant system provides surgeons who prefer non-metallic anchors with a polyetheretherketone (PEEK) anchor product line. The system can be used in shoulder-related procedures such as rotator cuff repairs and in Achilles tendon repair in the foot, among several other indications. The implant combines an extremely strong cortical bone lock, a reversible suture cinching mechanism, which provides increased tissue-to-bone interface, and completely knotless suture fixation with a simple, fast, and consistent technique. The implant is supplied preloaded into an easy-to-use inserted handle.

The Magnum PI is a product of ArthroCare (Austin, TX, USA), and utilizes the company's Opus platform technology and operating principles. The magnum PI system has been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Magnum, P.I. was an American television show that followed the adventures of Thomas Magnum (played by actor Tom Selleck), a private investigator living in Hawaii.
