New Family of Spinal Spacers Developed for Differing Anatomies

A family of spinal spacers accommodates varying patient anatomies and surgical approaches, with multiple footprint options.

The Novel-TL Spinal Spacer System is made of polyetheretherketone (PEEK) and has a patented tooth pattern that adds stability for optimal fusion and prevents migration of the spacer between the adjacent vertebrae. Radiographic markers ease the visual assessment of implant placement during surgery and fusion process post-surgery. Other features, intended to minimize the surgeon's time to prepare and implant the device, include: a bullet nose, bi-convex shape; low-profile pedicle screw distraction; and a set of instruments designed specifically for the NOVEL-TL system.

The standard dimensions of the spacers are 28 mm in width, 10 mm in depth, and heights varying from 7 to 14 mm. (other dimensions are available upon request). Product sizes are offered in either 0° or 5° lordotic angulation to accommodate sagittal alignment with maximum surgical efficacy. The system comes in an implant caddy that has been designed to facilitate access to implants and instruments during surgical procedures. The Novel-TL Spinal Spacer System is manufactured by Alphatec Spine (Carlsbad, CA, USA).
