The Precision Plus SCS System includes both implanted parts and external parts. The internal parts include leads that are surgically placed under the skin during a minor surgical procedure--usually in the hip area--and an implant connected to the leads placed next to the spinal cord. Physicians can place the implant with enhanced precision thanks to electronically generated lead (EGL) scan technology, which displays the relative position of implanted leads within seconds and without using fluoroscopy or x-ray. The external parts include the remote control, the charger, and the charging base station.
The improved remote controller simplifies the management of patient therapy, eliminating the need for cumbersome cords and antennas. An extended wireless range enables patients to adjust their pain therapy with simplicity and convenience. The new charger, which also features continuous temperature monitoring, is approximately 75% smaller and 85% than regular chargers, making it convenient and discreet. The Precision Plus SCS System is a product of Boston Scientific (Boston, MD, USA).
