A new laser-assisted lipolysis system uses minimally invasive technology that liquefies fat for easy removal and tightens the skin from the inside out.

The CoolLipo 1320 laser system is designed to ablate fat in areas such as the neck, chin, and arms and improves the outcome of conventional liposuction in larger areas such as the abdomen and thighs. In addition, the 1320 nanometer wavelength provides an excellent skin tightening and fat contouring ability, invoking subdermal skin tightening by means of direct targeting of collagen and connective tissue. The CoolLipo procedure is performed in a physician's office under local anesthesia; patient benefits include minimal, if any bruising, and less recovery time and cost than a face or neck lift. The CoolLipo 1320 laser system is a product of CoolTouch (Roseville, CA, USA), and has been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

"CoolLipo technology provides smoother results than with traditional lipoaspiration alone and makes these procedures significantly easier for both the patient and physician,” said Robert Weiss, M.D, an associate clinical professor of dermatology at John Hopkins University School of Medicine (Baltimore, MD, USA). "I have seen more of a skin tightening effect both when used adjunctively as well as principally.”

"Patients find the procedure fits within their time schedule and their budget,” said David R. Hennings, CoolTouch CEO. "This is an ideal procedure for those who aren't ready for a full face or neck lift, or have small fatty areas that don't respond to diet and exercise.”
